Edward has changed quite a bit since the beginning of the story. Talk about how he has changed. What do you think that Edward is learning about himself? What makes you say that? Remember to challenge yourself to "go deep" with your thinking!
When we love a book we have read or are currently reading we often create a "buzz" about by telling others about the book! Readers, give a little summary of a book you have read or are currently reading. Share with others why you think the book is so special. By creating a "book buzz" we can help other readers find books that matter to them!
In this novel, Ivan is a silverback gorilla who lives in a "domain" in a mall. Ivan is good friends with the other animals in the mall, especially Stella the elephant and Bob, a stray dog. When Stella dies, Ivan makes a promise to save her young friend, Ruby, from a life of captivity. The One and Only Ivan is a book of great courage and hope. Think about your favorite characters in the story. What character traits would you give them? Did they change during the story? Give evidence to support your thinking.

We've read a very powerful story called Feather's and Fools and watched an equally powerful movie called Selma, Lord Selma. I'd like you to take the time to reflect and think about how the two stories are alike and different.
Think about the events that happened in each story. The characters actions and how each story ended. Did both stories have a common theme? What lessons can we learn from each story? We've just finished reading Roxie and the Hooligans by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. We are also learning how to craft Opinions and Reviews. Take some time to reflect and write your opinion about the book. Give reasons to support your thinking. What did you like or not like about the book? What was your favorite part? What was the heart of the message or the theme of the story. How would you rate this book? Read the comments of others and make connections to their thinking!
We've been working really hard and focusing on what it means to be a good partner. Why do you appreciate your partner? How do you care for your partner?
